This year, SLARG Research Week will feature a PhD Defense, a Research Exhibition, a Screening Program, Research Presentations and a Public Lecture.

SLARG Research Exhibition presents the work of artists and researchers Ayoh Kré Duchâtelet, Brenda Bikoko, Cèlia Tort Pujol, Dimitri van den Wittenboer, Frederik Debleser, Garine Gokceyan, Irma Földényi, Jeroen Bocken, Joachim Ben Yakoub, Jonathan Paepens, Karen Vermeren, Lieven Menschaert, Myrthe Bokelmann, Reem Shilleh, Robin Vanbesien, Sam Vanbelle and Sander Van de Vijver.

The exhibition showcases works-in-progress, experiments, and proposals, offering an inside look at SLARG’s one-year, two-year, and PhD research projects. Practice-based research in the arts is a slow, often challenging process, and this exhibition pushes the boundaries of what is typically expected in an art exhibit. It encourages visitors to slowly engage with the work, inviting them to explore the complexities and ongoing challenges faced by the researchers. Our researchers will be present to discuss their work with you, and they look forward to engaging in dialogue. Research is an ongoing, collaborative process, and your feedback and insights are valuable contributions to their journey.

The Research Exhibition will be open on Wednesday 28 October and run till Sunday 1 November.

On the Opening night on 28 October, you can meet the researchers or join a guided tour.

The Screening Program on 29 October will feature three films made by our recently graduated PhD researchers:

· Make it Look Real by Danial Shah.

· Hear Her Calendar System – a year of Thirteen Months by Bianca Baldi.

· L’arbre de l’Authenticité by Sammy Baloji.

On 30 October we program research presentations by Karen Vermeren, Joachim Ben Yakoub & Reem Shilleh, Brenda Bikoko, Robin Vanbesien, Sam Vanbelle and Jeroen Bocken, Sander Van de Vijver and Jonathan Paepens. We will finish the day with a Public Lecture by Palestinian author Adania Shibli.
