Site Of Reversible Destiny

Site Of Reversible Destiny is a small publication by SLARG researcher Sam Vanbelle, developed as the first chapter of a year-long research project at the Sint Lucas Antwerpen research group SLARG. Through a series of visual essays, Vanbelle explores drawing as a method for thinking about identity, gender and embodiment. The project grows out of an extensive archive of tiny sketchbooks, an intimate working space where everyday experiences of gender, transitioning, parenthood and daily life are recorded and reworked.
Rather than presenting a finished narrative, the publication keeps the traces of searching visible. Hesitations, fragments and discoveries remain part of the pages, turning drawing into a form of exploration. In this way, Site Of Reversible Destiny functions as a quiet gesture of visual activism, opening space for gender variation in a world where such space often feels limited. The publication was riso-printed in November 2025 at the workspaces of Sint Lucas Antwerpen.
