This research centers on the importance of developing a collective political imagination capable of supporting real paths toward liberation in contemporary Palestine. It asks how imagination - often constrained by colonial domination, systematic violence, and everyday ‘normalization’ - can be activated as a shared social and political capacity rather than reduced to symbolic representation. How can it function as a substitute infrastructure: an immaterial yet operative system that holds together what colonial power seeks to fragment.
Drawing on critical pedagogy, anti-colonial thought, and visual anthropology, I explore how embodied and sensory forms of aesthetics can challenge dominant modes of representation and knowledge production. The research asks how the social and emotional conditions for liberation can be cultivated, making it thinkable and collectively actionable, while reclaiming imagination, localised, grounded, and embedded in the everyday, as a necessary force for political and social transformation. In doing so, it foregrounds imagination as a practice enacted in the present, with the capacity to resist colonial ways of knowing.
