Jivan van der Ende’s artistic practice is always in motion. Working across performance, installation, video and print, she explores how the body is perceived, controlled and experienced in a social context. Her characters often embody authority or socially coded roles: a policeman, a bodybuilder, a construction worker. With curiosity and tenderness, she explores the tensions between power and vulnerability, strength and fragility, discipline and pleasure. Her work remains open-ended, shifting between media, collaborations and exhibition formats, always looking for new ways to approach the research.
Van der Ende studied Fashion Design at ArtEZ in Arnhem and Fine Art at KASK in Ghent. She has been artist in residence at HISK, Museum M Leuven, Frans Masereel Centrum, Tique Art Space and Fresh AIR Berlin. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at P/////AKT (Amsterdam), Ein Buch Haus (Berlin), Ulay Foundation (Ljubljana), M Leuven, WIELS and C-Mine. Solo exhibitions include LLS Paleis, Antwerp (2020) and P/////AKT, Amsterdam (2025).
