ITP in Artistic Research | Final phase in Manila
In February, a team of Sint Lucas Antwerpen researchers and Advanced Master tutors went to the Philippine Women’s University (PWU) in Manila for the third and final part of the International Training Program in Artistic Research (VLIRUOS).
The first week was dedicated to the creation of an artistic research publication - from idea to handmade artist book - together with researchers from the Schools of Arts & Design and Music (PWU).
The second week we co-organized an intensive program in artistic research (writing, ethics, theory, methodology and much more) for 20 selected artists and designers from all regions and islands of the Philippines. We ended this two-week program with the first artistic research conference in the Philippines, which was attended by more than 130 artists and designers from within and outside academic institutions.
We thank our sponsor VLIRUOS for this enriching, energizing and inspiring journey. Artistic research is alive and kicking in different geographic and cultural locations, and academic institutions are ready to recognize its value and embrace its epistemological potential for change in our ways of seeing, being, and living together.
